MY LIFE WITH ROCK N’ ROLL PEOPLE
BY MIKE NICHOLLS
AN A TO Z MEMOIR…
About Mike Nicholls’ 100 favourite musicians and his relationship with them during his 40-year career as a rock journalist writing for newspapers and magazines including Record Mirror, the British tabloids, Penthouse, Hello!, The Times, Evening Standard and The Sunday Times.
The hardback book is 425 pages and includes 32 pages of previously unpublished photos of Mike Nicholls with Joe Strummer, Ronnie Spector, Roger Daltrey, Bob Geldof, Jeff Beck, Kim Wilde and more.
“So who are these rock ‘n’ roll people? Well, there are one hundred here in this book and I’ve interviewed them all. Naturally, each one is an individual but they have a lot in common. First of all, you can see it in their eyes, a twinkle here, a hint of mischief there. Then there’s that profound and sincere look of integrity matching a heart full of soul.
“Real rock ‘n’ roll people were born rebels; tell them to sit down and they stand up. Recommend a trade and they’ll give a little shimmy, a quick twirl and head for the nearest party.
“Ideally, the rock ‘n’ roll people in this book are your heroes as well as mine. You can read about my life with all of them either by proceeding from A to Z, or just diving into your personal favourites – search and enjoy.”

An Excellent Read
An excellent read, refreshingly free from clichés and easy on the eye. It should be on everybody’s bookshelf – it’s certainly on mine!”
Congratulations
Congratulations to old pal Mike Nicholls on self-publishing his weighty tome of 100 interviews. They’re all in there: Macca, Jagger, Bowie, Strummer, Lydon, Tom Petty, Kate Bush, Ronnie Spector & many others. All compiled A-Z so easy to dip into with three nice photo sections and only a very reasonable £18. Mike was never shy in coming forward to get his story and probably still has the bruises to prove it!
How did he get away with it?
“I’ve been reading Mike Nicholls’s memoir My Life With Rock N’ Roll People, an extraordinary account of gatecrashing, doorstepping and namedropping at the very highest level. How did he get away with it?”
Brilliant Book
What a brilliant book. I took it on holiday with the idea of dipping in to it when I had a spare 10 minutes or so. It was so good that I just kept on reading and finished it in a couple of days. What a life this man has had. So many laugh out loud moments. Would make a great Christmas gift for any music fan.
Great
Great book. He obviously knows the right questions which is rare. Kissing Ronnie Spector is also great.
A Blast!
A very enjoyable read – 2 of my favourite (among many) great chapters are the inimitable John Lydon and Kate Bush. An A-Z full of fun, quirky moments and off-beat insights, strong design and memorable photographs, Mike Nicholls’ My Life with Rock N’ Roll People is a blast.
Highly Recommend!
Mike has been around the block once or twice, in a good way of course! On the third or fourth time he has quite rightly decided to share some of his encounters with dozens of top music types, most of them brilliant and famous stars. Highly recommend and will make you very envious!
